Church Body

"The church is not a building made with stone. It is a building made with living flesh. We believers are living stones in God’s temple (1 Pet. 2:5), and when we come together we constitute a place of worship where God manifests Himself in ways that He cannot manifest Himself when we are alone. Believers become the living temple of God, offering to Him spiritual sacrifices not possible anywhere other than in the assembly of the redeemed church."

- John MacArthur

David Azam - Pastor

I was raised in Denver City Tx, and graduated from High School in 1995. I graduated from Texas Tech University in May of 2000, with a B.A. in History, and then pursued a career as a teacher/coach. Following my call to ministry I moved back to Denver City and served as Youth Pastor at First Baptist for 9 years. During that time I earned a Masters of Divinity degree from Logsdon Theological Seminary, as well as a Masters in Christian Ministry degree from Wayland Baptist University. My wife and I have a son, Brady, who was born June 30th, 2008, and 2 daughters, Ella who was born March 4th, 2010 and Sadie who was born on July 4th, 2019. My family and I are so excited to be in Olton, and I am truly honored to serve as your pastor.

Devereux Cockrell - Youth Pastor

I was born and raised in Clovis, New Mexico, a small town not too dissimilar from Olton. Though I grew up in a Christian home, faith in Christ wasn't much more to me than a set of rules I should follow to stay on God's good side.  God showed me that I already was on His good side because of what He did on the cross for me when I was a sophomore in high school.  God blessed me during this time with a youth pastor at my church that became like a spiritual father to me, teaching me how to be a slave to Christ (1 Cor. 7:22) Shortly after that, I heard the Lord call me into ministry.  After I graduated high school, I attended Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ where I met my beautiful wife Leah.  We got married in December 2020 and I graduated with a Christian Studies Degree with a minor in Philosophy in 2021.  We are so excited to be here serving in God's kingdom in the local body of FBC Olton, and there is no doubt in my mind that God has brought us here with the purpose of raising up disciples of Christ.

Travis McCullough - Music Minister

I grew up in New Deal, TX and graduated from New Deal High School in 2002. I attended Wayland Baptist University where I participated in the marching band and jazz band. I graduated from Wayland in 2006 with a B.A. in Instrumental Music Education. I met my wife Kathleen while in college and we married in 2007. On March 2, 2009, our energetic son Josiah Thomas was born. In the fall of 2010, I became the head director of the Olton Mustang Band at Olton High School. We not only quickly fell in love with Olton, but with First Baptist as well. My wife and I have prayed for years for the Lord to lead us to a church body where we can minister and serve, and we have found that at First Baptist Olton. I am excited to see how the Lord will use my talents to bring glory to His name. We love the church family we have found at First Baptist Church and I am honored to serve as your music minister.
